Munich, 13 December 2024 – KPS AG wins the “ERP Today Award 2024” in the “ERP AI and Innovation of the Year” category. The award ceremony took place at the Park Plaza in London on 12 December 2024. The award was accepted by Thomas Zielke from the AI & Data Activation Excellence Centre at KPS AG.

Rapid implementation of a predictive model
“As a leading European consulting firm, we are particularly pleased to receive this award, as it underlines our ability to master specific challenges in the retail sector through digitalisation and artificial intelligence. In this way, we create tangible added value for our customers along the entire value chain. In the AI pilot project that won the ERP Today Award, we trained a recommendation model by integrating product master data with purchase data, which already achieved a hit probability of over 80 per cent in its recommendations in the first implementation – and that in less than four weeks,” says Thomas Zielke from the AI & Data Activation Excellence Centre at KPS AG.
AI-based product recommendations
KPS AG supported a German retail chain in improving its product recommendations for unknown or unregistered customers. Using an AI-based method, KPS developed a solution that can simulate personalised product recommendations based on real customer data – an essential aspect when no personal data is available for analysis. The system receives the raw data from SAP CAR (Customer Activity Repository) and converts it into actionable insights using Google BigQuery. The solution runs with Cloud Vertex AI from Google. The insights gained include trends in purchasing behaviour, sales analyses and optimisation potential.
The project shows how rapid implementation and AI-based processing of large amounts of data can significantly improve product recommendations. The high accuracy of the AI model leads to better personalisation, which in turn increases customer engagement and optimises sales performance.
Building on this success, KPS has developed a scalable interface (API) for retailers with a POS and SAP CAR in use, which enables the seamless integration of AI into ERP systems. This API supports retailers in providing personalised product recommendations based on anonymous or individual purchasing behaviour directly at the point of sale – for example via Scan & Go devices, digital kiosks or at the checkout.
“Our solution shows how innovation in the ERP system is setting new standards: Through AI-supported recommendations, we create a personalised customer experience that inspires. With this project, we are demonstrating how state-of-the-art technologies can solve specific challenges in the retail sector and at the same time sustainably improve our customers’ business results,” summarises Thomas Zielke.
