Intuitively, more and more customers are demanding a shopping experience that links all sales channels. They w ant to order online and have products shipped to their homes as quickly as possible, but also the opportunity to collect or return in store. That translates into tougher demands not only for retailers, but also for logistics service providers. Hermes processes 60 million orders and manages 300 million goods movements for its clients every year. So, faster processing is what this logistics service provider needs. But with a fragmented IT landscape operating several different modules, faster processing was not what it was getting. Without seamless integration, managing processes between the modules was extremely difficult. A lot of time and resources were also caught up in integrating new clients, since Her-mes Fulfilment had to create a different solution for each client’s IT system. The challenge was to replace the different software solutions created for each individual client and map all of the clients’ core processes in one uniform template.
With its proven track record in corporate transformation, including outstanding references from recent clients Hugo Boss and SportScheck, Hermes Fulfilment decided to partner with KPS for the implementation. The key drivers for the decision were KPS’ experience in the wholesale/retail trade and in fulfillment, as well as its innovative Rapid-Transformation® method. After just 18 months, Hermes Fulfilment successfully implemented the new standardized SAP-based IT platform. The test phase was completed in record time, not least due to the KPS method and the early involvement of Hermes staff in process development. In addition to implementing various SAP solutions, like SAP Retail or SAP Extended Warehouse Management, KPS Consulting custom-developed intelligent interfaces that use Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to facili-tate communication with external clients, links with mobile devices and scanner solutions. And the new Business Configu-ration Sets made linking up with new clients fast and easy, significantly speeding up the integration process.
Hermes and KPS implemented the following solution portfolio: SAP Retail incl. FI-CAX, SD, MM, LE, QM, SAP EWM inkl. PCO, MDEs, QIE, SAP PI, SAP BI as well as Adobe Document Services. Carriers were connected via xlogics, several other external service providers were also integrated (Paypal, Web portals etc.).
