TROST SE with SAP system for compliance
The processes involved in handling hazardous materials are governed by numerous laws and regulations. Additional master data must be managed in such a way that it always complies with the latest safety provisions. KPS set up an SAP system for TROST SE that adapts goods receipt and goods issue processes, storage, as well as label and document printing to the requirements for hazardous substances and dangerous goods.
TROST SE, a leading wholesaler for commercial vehicle and automotive components with 1.3 million active products at around 200 sites, must also meet various legal requirements relating in particular to how hazardous substances are stored and transported – a challenge indeed for any company.
KPS consultants tackled this challenge by mapping the legal regulations in the SAP system and implementing SAP Environment, Health, and Safety Management. This enabled KPS to provide a solution for managing hazardous substances and dangerous goods that is fully integrated into the standard SAP software. The system undertakes automatic checks for storage (for example, compatibility of material with storage location), for packing and shipping (for example, quantity limits and packing instructions), as well as for document printing, labeling, and creating any necessary documents.
The customer benefit
The new solution ensures that TROST SE complies with the legal requirements in all relevant aspects through efficient integration into the end-to-end processes. Some of the functions implemented include:
- Designation in the article master
- Printing special instructions in the goods receipt for putaway
- Calculating the transportation planning points for delivery
Special requirements augment the scope of functionality. These include rules for storage at the site, selecting the forwarding agent, and determining a route that complies with dangerous goods restrictions.
