The challenge

Toolport needed to improve cross-selling opportunities and product discovery by leveraging AI for personalised recommendations. The goal was to prototype an AI-based recommendation system using historical product and customer data, demonstrating its effectiveness through A/B testing.

The solution

KPS partnered with Toolport to implement an AI-based product discovery solution using Google Cloud's Vertex AI. By transforming 12-24 months of catalogue and purchase data into a consumable format in BigQuery, KPS trained recommendation models. These models generated "frequently bought together" product recommendations, setting the foundation for future AI-driven enhancements.

The result

The project successfully demonstrated the viability of AI-powered recommendations, achieving an 80% confidence level in product suggestions. Toolport saw the potential for increased cross-selling, improved customer experience, and enhanced sales. The solution laid the groundwork for future scaling and expansion of AI capabilities within their e-commerce platform.
